Dr.Martin Luther King's Significance

Martin Luther King was a great man. His intention in life was not only to cease segregation but to inlighten people about non violence acts. His birthday which is a day that there is no school,is ment to be a day of rememberance on the impact he had on the world. However, like me, many kids sit around at home and either sleep or don't finish their chores that parents ask them to do. Both meaning not being productive. But why? Dr.Martin Luther King was from Atlanta GA, which also means there is a memorial in downtown Atlanta. So how come kids would rather go out of their way to go to the mall, but on this particular day its almost as if most of us can't function. Personally I think that it's because most of us have forgotten his significance. He had a major role in what we call segregation, which if had not been fixed then kids would not be able to enjoy a day out at their favorite mall. Dr. Martin Luther did the best to his ability to bring people together, which has definately shown through the years. I guess what I'm trying get my readers to understad is that he was a "BIG DEAL" and his non violent and smart ways of making a differnce has shown us all that people have come a long way.
