Antigone the feminazi

The difference between a man and a woman:

I think that we all should be treated as equal. Not to sound like I'm runing for Ms. America or something but for real. But now in modern days everything is sterotyped so that then women and men are out in these categories. Men and women should all get paid equally depending on their level and skill. Women shouldn't always be known as the rape victim, the damsal in distress, the emotional trick, and the care giver. Men shouldn't always be characterized as the abusive, beer drinking, macho, sports finatic and hummer driving individual. Personally a man could do a womans job and vice versa. O wish that people weren't so small minded about the world and how everything works inside of it. Men shouldn't always known as the the bacon bringer and women shouldn't be in charge of having a hot meal prepared. I just don't know where it all comes form. Does this go all the way back to Adam and Eve?

oedipus complex/president bush

The Oedipus story itself is an unrealistic story just by the amount of drama that is added. However the psychology of the story ties into allot of modern issues throughout this modern era. The Oedipus story line is that he killed his father in an earlier dispute and later on married his mother but none of this was done intentionally. One example of how the Oedipus story ties into modern day issues is through the President of The United States. George Bush Junior who is the son of former President George Bush Senior in some ways can be called Oedipus; however he didn't kill his father and marry his mother.

Oedipus was a king whom held a great deal of power in the story. In the story he kills a stranger unaware that he is his father in an earlier dispute between rivals. After the death of Oedipus's father, Oedipus marries a woman unaware that she is his mother. He is soon confronted with the unfortunate events and is filled with despair and sorrow.

George Bush Senior whom is The United States former forty- first presidents was elected in 1989 and finished his term in 1993. His son George Bush Junior is our current President. When senior was in office he was faced with many world issues that had gone on while he was Vice President under President Regan. The Berlin Wall fell, The Soviet Union ceased to exist, and the Cold War ended after 40 years. However his biggest problem came when Iraq's president Saddam Hussein invaded neighboring Kuwait. Hussein's intention was to rule the people of Kuwait and take their oil. Kuwait, which is abundant in oil recourses used to sell oil to the U.S. at that time. George Bush Senior decided to step in and help the country in need. Senior sent 425, 000 troops over to Kuwait to try and drive Saddam out, which was a success but not for long. After the U.S. drove Saddams army from Kuwait the troops headed back to The United States. Bush decided not to peruse Saddam into Iraq. Instead our troops stopped at the Iraq Kuwait border. Some questioned Bush's reasoning for leaving Kuwait. Critics argued that Saddam Hussein would live to fight another day. Bush Senior had his reasons. First, U.S troops had accomplished their mission of driving Saddam and his forces out of Kuwait. Second, any attempts to capture Saddam would probably be unsuccessful. Third, once engaged in a war in Iraq U.S troops would find it difficult to stabilize the country and leave.

George Bush Junior whom has gotten the United States into a great deal of trouble has also gotten the U.S. into the predicament that his father tried to prevent. After 911 when the twin towers where attacked George Bush declared war on Iraq and Bin Laden's army. Bush Junior allowed the U.S. troops to go into Iraq searching for Bin Laden and his group of terrorist. Following the invasion of Iraq Saddam was perused, caught, and eventually executed. However, as predicted by his father the U.S.troops has had difficulty stabilizing the country preventing the extraction of our troops.

The Oedipal complex ties into modern issues because George Bush tried to out do his father. George Bush Senior predicted that if a war began it would never end, and American troops would not return to the U.S. Although Bush Junior did not marry his mother and kill his father he has potentially marginalized his father by invading Iraq. Psychologist study that most men don't really become men until after their fathers die, because they are constantly living behind their father’s shadow. However, when Bush junior decided to invade Iraq it proved that he didn't need his father.

The decisions I make in my life are not all controlled by me. I know that almost everything that I have learned from my mom is something that I'm going to keep doing in life. For example talking, walking and learning basic ways to keep myself going everyday. Now that I think about it, I live in my mother shadow. Although I don't look anything like my mother many people know that I am my mothers child just by the way I act. The phrase that is most commonly used when we are caught acting alike is "The apple doesn't fall that far from the tree". My short temper comes from my quck witted mom and my smooth sarcasim comes from her as well. I would like to become my own woman but still keep the traits that make my mom and I have in common. I'm afraid that if I don't become my own woman that I will never really know how to become independant and will have to constantly use my mom for help. Although what moms are for is to give you advice and be your bestfriend.I want to be able to become my own woman for my future children if I ever plan to have any.

The relation between fate and free will in Oedipus rex

The relatinship between fate and free will in Oedipus Rex is that characters rely on God and thir king (oedipus) for what the outcome of their life might be. In the story some believe Teiresias who is a blind man whom is also a wise man. The charaters come to him for advice because in their mind since he can't see then he must be have the ability to see the future. Some in the story believe in free will as well. Free will is the belief that people are allowed to make their own decisions in life and no matter what their future might read. In their mind their future is in their hands and is determined by whatever choices they make alone. In my opinion I am a believer of both free will and fate. I Live my life knowing that whatever mistakes or choices I make can affect my life in a good or bad way.

Create a Hell for all sinners

My Hell for sinners would consist of deathly thoughts. So deathly and sorrow filled that forgiveness wouldn't be an option in their mind. My Hell has sauna type air that is hot, stuffy and hard to breath. It would also have razor and stapel filled walls that cover every square inch of my hell. My Hell stays at a temperature of 350 degrees which makes the victims suffer when their bodies touch the metal. My Hell welcomes molesters, abusers, and drunk drivers. This Hell would be for the people who God couldn't even forgive. My Hells smell would smell of death. Its rancid odor consist of rotton egg stink bombs, veal farm residue, and decaying organisms. This Hell is completley umberable. In my Hell there is no sound, in fact once you enter you yourself become mute. This makes it better for you to suffer from inside, bathe in your sorrow and pitty, about how you wish you would have been a better person while you lived your life on earth.

Dr.Martin Luther King's Significance

Martin Luther King was a great man. His intention in life was not only to cease segregation but to inlighten people about non violence acts. His birthday which is a day that there is no school,is ment to be a day of rememberance on the impact he had on the world. However, like me, many kids sit around at home and either sleep or don't finish their chores that parents ask them to do. Both meaning not being productive. But why? Dr.Martin Luther King was from Atlanta GA, which also means there is a memorial in downtown Atlanta. So how come kids would rather go out of their way to go to the mall, but on this particular day its almost as if most of us can't function. Personally I think that it's because most of us have forgotten his significance. He had a major role in what we call segregation, which if had not been fixed then kids would not be able to enjoy a day out at their favorite mall. Dr. Martin Luther did the best to his ability to bring people together, which has definately shown through the years. I guess what I'm trying get my readers to understad is that he was a "BIG DEAL" and his non violent and smart ways of making a differnce has shown us all that people have come a long way.

To think about tomorrow's disscussion

What's the conflict between Creon and Oedipus? Oedipus said Creon seduced the old prophet into lying. This caused him a great deal of dis- honor with his friends and family.

Why is Oedipus so edgy? He thinks Creon was plotting his death and planning to steal the throne.

We meet Jocast; characterizize her. She is dumb and naieve. Naieve to the point that she acts as if she knows something but tries to play dumb about the situation

Find dramtic irony? Oedipus think that Creon must be trying to plot his death.

What's Oedipus plan? HIs plan is to find the wotness and kill him.
